How do I share or print a scanned document from my iPhone?

Export the scan as a PDF or JPG in PDF Scanner, then use the standard iOS share sheet to send it by message, mail or any app that accepts files — or choose Print to send it to an AirPrint printer on your network. The file is produced on the device, so sharing is the one deliberate moment a scan leaves your iPhone, and it goes only where you send it.

The short version

  • Scans export as PDF or JPG, both free and with no watermark.
  • Sharing uses the standard iOS share sheet, so any app that accepts files can receive the scan.
  • AirPrint sends a scan to a compatible printer on the same network.
  • Multi-page documents share as a single PDF rather than as loose images.
  • Nothing is uploaded to produce the file — export runs on the iPhone.
  • No account is required; the app runs on iOS 16 or later.

Step by step

  1. Finish the scan before exporting

Crop, straighten and adjust contrast first, and add a signature or markup if the document needs it. Exporting freezes the current state into the file.

  2. Pick the format the recipient needs

PDF for anything official, anything multi-page, and anything being printed. JPG for a single page going into a chat or an image-only upload form.

  3. Open the share sheet

Share hands the exported file to iOS, where mail, messages, and any file-capable app on your phone appear as destinations.

  4. Or choose Print for AirPrint

Select Print, pick an AirPrint printer on the same network, and set copies and page range. A PDF prints at the page size it was exported at.

  5. Check the file before you send it

Open the exported PDF once and scroll through. It takes seconds and catches the missing last page or the page that was still blurred.

Frequently asked

Can I email a multi-page scan as one file?
Yes. Multi-page documents export as a single PDF, so the whole set attaches as one file in the right order.
What if I have no AirPrint printer?
Share the PDF to a device that is connected to the printer, or take it to a print shop on a file. The exported PDF is a normal file with no app-specific format.
Does the printed scan look like the screen version?
Close, though print exposes a dim or low-contrast scan more harshly than a screen does. If a printed page comes out grey, raise contrast on the scan and export again.
Is anything uploaded when I share?
Only by the app you share to — mail sends through your mail provider, a message through your messaging service. PDF Scanner itself does not upload your document to produce or share the file.
Do I have to pay to share or print?
No. Export, sharing and printing are free and add no watermark.

Scan it on your phone. Keep it on your phone.

PDF Scanner captures with automatic edge detection, straightens the page, reads the text on-device, and exports a PDF — free, with no watermark and no account. Your documents are never uploaded to a server.
